by | Jan 15, 2015

GIBH has received donations of large quantities of medical equipment from Universal Hospital Services, Inc. The donations include 11 oxygen monitors, 2 wheelchairs, 31 breast pumps, 45 oxygen concentrators, and 13 portable and standing Dina-map blood pressure monitors.

GIBH is in the process of implementing a pilot project involving quality improvement in maternal and newborn care at Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The Gandhi Memorial Hospital is the only hospital exclusively serving pregnant women in Ethiopia. The pilot project will include facility assessment, development of clinical guidelines, and training and teaching workshops. The donated medical equipment, along with other medical supplies, will be a component of this pilot project. GIBH plans to scale up the project after it benchmarks best practices in this resource-limited setting.

In light of its proposed projects, GIBH would like to thank Universal Hospital Services, Inc. for its generous donations of medical equipment and looks forward to its continued partnership. Universal Hospital Services, Inc. is a leading nationwide provider of health care technology management and service solutions to the health care industry. Universal Hospital Services, Inc. owns or manages more than 700,000 pieces of medical equipment for over 8,000 national, regional, and local acute care hospitals and alternate site providers in all 50 states.

GIBH would also like to thank Memorial Hermann Hospital -Texas Medical Center for facilitating this partnership with Universal Hospital Services.  Founded in 1925, Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center was the first hospital to open in the world-renowned Texas Medical Center. For nearly a century, the hospital has set new standards of care in Texas and the nation through advances in the practice of medicine.

GIBH hopes that Universal Hospital Services, Inc. will continue to support its mission through generous donations of medical equipment.
